Kisseh Eliyahu
This Eliyahu Chair used in the circumcision ceremony is quite a rare two seater. It arrived in deplorable condition, with pieces and veneer missing, the inscription in tatters. The piece was fumigated, pieces reconstructed, the veneer completed, the inscription faithfully restored. What makes the piece extremely rare is the sad fact that during WWII, most of the synagogues of Europe were either systematically destroyed or their contents looted. Only small Jewish artifacts which could be carried by the members of the community survived. The larger ones, like this, were left behind to their fate and therefore are extremely rare.
