Reproduction of 19c. table.
Four years ago, I bought an oak dining table and, instead of putting it up for sale, I took it home. I was amazed a the mechanism that allowed it to open from 160cm. to 420cm. single handedly to seat 22-24 persons.
After some research, I found that the table was made in the mid 19th century by the prestigious firm of Edwards & Roberts, and the opening system relied on a telescopic screw patented in 1861 by Samuel Hawkins of Bishopsgate, London.
The comfort and masterly craftsmanship of this table, which had already lasted more than 140 years still in perfect condition, made me want to share my find with others.
I started painstakingly and faithfully reproducing the table, sparing no cost, to produce a table that would last generations.
